Scheduled Improvements for Winter 2024/25

Snow Lodge roofing and fire system project – The Old Faithful Snow Lodge will be undergoing a major renovation project through the winter season that will include reroofing, fire system upgrade, and an enclosure of the second-floor observation deck. This project will require a diversion of foot traffic in and around the building, temporary walls and hallways, use of construction barriers, equipment staged and in use, and ongoing work that will likely cause noise between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Old Faithful Snow Lodge offers a truly unique experience. Nestled in the Upper Geyser basin in the park’s interior, in winter you can only get there by commercially operated snowcoach* or snowmobile.  And while over snow travel through Yellowstone is a great experience in itself, (you never know what you’ll see along the way), you’ll be thrilled when you arrive as well. The Snow Lodge was recognized in 1999 with the Cody Award for Western Design. If the name is not enough of a clue, the Snow Lodge seems to be at its best in winter. Fireplaces in the lobby and between the bar and dining room are magnets for chatty gatherings of friends and family. The lobby areas always seem to have unfinished puzzles begging for attention, and ample space for board games. The gift shop makes for great browsing, and also houses the Bear Den Ski Shop where cross country ski and snowshoe rentals, lessons, and tours are available. A range of tours and skier shuttles depart daily from the Snow Lodge, providing access to places like the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Mammoth Hot Springs, Firehole Canyon, and the Lone Star Geyser trail.  But who needs a shuttle when you can also access ski and snowshoe trails out the door.  If that’s not enough, an outdoor skating rink with free skate rentals is just outside the lobby. All in-park facilities are non-smoking/non-vaping.

Over-snow Transportation Required
